Hatching Geese vs Hatching Chicks

Is there really a Golden Egg out there? I don't know, but I'm willing to find out!

We've never done Geese before, but we've consulted with a farm who does.

Now we have 7 Eggs incubating.

Owner from Sun Coast Farm in Pender county, who originally provided the eggs said "They are just great, and have a distinctive Quack. I always know when someone is here or something is on the property"

Sun Coast Farm specializes in Nursery Farming, hard to get items, and unique organic technique! They also sell organic growing, pork, birds, etc.

Geese are a little different, and a lot more work it would seem. Hatching them takes about 28-35 days, and requires constant watch, misting, cooling, turning (because there's no easy way to turn a gigantic egg like that in the incubators)

Hopes are high, and hopefully second 1/2 of the season, we'll have these amazing Animals available for purchase.

Here you can see a Goose Egg fitting in my entire hand. This thing has some weight to it, and I'm not sure what a goose egg taste like, but for now, we'll have to wait.

A Distinct head draws most peoples attention! This unique animal is a little different than the traditional Geese. They are very noisy, alarm sounding, and protective. (There's some discussion about how they protect in packs vs Solo) more about that later.

The gosling looks a lot like a duck. But they are indeed water fowl yea? We can't wait to see how these turn out, and we're excited to offer them here in our area. We've had a few folks asking about them, but we've never had them until 2023! We'll keep you posted.

We currently own enough incubation real-estate to cover about 200 eggs per month. We had to clear a smaller, special incubator we use for special purposes, struggling eggs, or special eggs. It only holds about 10 eggs normally, or just barely holds the 7 Goose eggs without the auto-rotation.

No Auto-Rotation?

Nope! We couldn't really make our normal egg incubators do this for an egg this size. I'm sure they have them, but for now, we're the rotators. Our family has decided to handle this on schedules, sharing in the constant phone alerts, to keep us on time. We will be rotating 3 -4 times a day. We'll also be performing 10 min cool downs, then 15 minute cool downs. There's also misting involved.
