October to Remember!

Welcome to October! Can you believe how quickly the year has flown by? As we inch closer to the end of 2024, we begin to feel the familiar rhythm of cooler temperatures, crisp autumn breezes, and shorter days. It's that time of year when summer starts to wave goodbye, but is it really over?

Not quite! As we all know, here in Eastern North Carolina, we often get a final "encore" in the form of lingering warmth, and, of course, the occasional hurricane brewing off the Atlantic coast. We've dodged a bullet compared to our dear friends on the other end of the State and Florida. A stark reminder, that mother natures spares no corner, leaves no dirt untouched, and can always reach you wherever you are.

To our friends on the Western Part of the State, they need our help! Reach out to us about donating to Western NC or Contact Coker Feed Mill, as we work with Coker Feed Mill and others to deliver needed feed and supplies in efforts to help with Hurricane Helene and Milton Recovery. Interested in sponsoring a full pallet? Reach out.

What’s New at Little Planes Farm?

Here at Little Planes Farm, we’re always striving to provide the highest quality products for our customers. Whether you’re looking for top-tier feed for your animals, locally produced and crafted with care, or supplies for your garden and homestead, we’ve got you covered! Our feed is produced locally, ensuring the freshest, most nutritious options for your animals.

We take pride in knowing that every bag of feed you purchase from us supports not just your farm but the community as well! If you are buying feed, from a named brand store, I encourage you to examine the difference. It's one thing for feed to 30% higher priced feed, but when was it bagged? How far away were the products grown from our area? So many valuable questions we should be asking!

We’ve got some exciting updates happening on the farm, and we can’t wait to share them with you!

  1. New Building Coming Soon! We’re thrilled to announce that we’re expanding our space with a new building coming in October or November 2024! This new facility will allow us to better serve you with more products, faster service, and an even better feed experience.

(Not Actual Building, but close!)

  1. More Inventory We’re expanding our inventory to bring you an even wider selection of feed, supplies, and products to help you care for your animals and land. Whether you’re raising pigs, chickens, or cattle, or just maintaining a garden, we’ll have everything you need.

New Weekend Store Hours We’ve heard your feedback, and we’re excited to announce that our store is now fully open on weekends from 9 am to 3 pm!

(Feed Hut Maysville, NC) "We're gonna need a bigger building!"

Whether you're stopping by for feed, supplies, or just to say hi, we’re here to help. Come visit us and check out what’s new!

One thing that doesn't take a break this time of year? The bugs! The pests of the south are still in full force, reminding us that summer isn't quite over until they say so. Whether you're outside tending to your garden, caring for animals, or just trying to enjoy an evening on the porch, the bugs are out there trying to bully us all.

As we head into Fall and Winter, please note that some prices of feed, and hays will increase slightly. Changes in Hay are Expected, as the increase and demand in Hay has nearly doubled in the past month! Remember we have available:

-Timothy Hay / Alf Hay 75/25

-Alf Hay

-Wheat Straw (Bedding / Ground Lay / Water control)

Winter Feed Changes

Moving into Winter means feed habits change for all animals! Ask us about common recipe mixes for things like Pigs, Chickens, and Goats. Did you know mixing down your feeds is a great way to save feed? For example, pigs shouldn't just eat pig feed by itself. That can become expensive, and the pigs could be missing out on things they need over time. We use a 1:3 - 1:6 feed mix

of various things. A common mix down is Grain Screenings, found in our store, can be used for any animal as a mixer. Chickens can also use mixes. Sometime mixes are better when its dry outside, and others when it's wet, damp, and cold. We have tons of free samples, and happy to discuss with you!
