Piglets (Birth to 8 Weeks)

  • Birth to Weaning (0-3 weeks):

    • Colostrum: Essential for the first 24 hours.

    • Milk: Sow milk or a high-quality milk replacer if needed.

    • Begin creep feed at 2-3 weeks (0.25-0.5 lbs daily).

  • Post-Weaning (3-8 weeks):

    • Transition to a high-protein starter feed (18-22% protein).

    • Free-choice access to fresh water and feed.

Grower Pigs (8 Weeks to 6 Months)

  • Feed a grower ration (16-18% protein).

  • 3-5 lbs of feed daily per pig, depending on weight and activity level.

  • Provide fresh water at all times.

  • Allow supervised access to pasture if available.

Finishing Pigs (6 Months to Market Weight)

  • Feed a finisher ration (14-16% protein).

  • 5-7 lbs of feed daily per pig.

  • Ensure free-choice access to fresh water.

Breeding Boars and Sows

  • Breeding Season:

    • Feed a maintenance ration (14-16% protein) adjusted for condition.

    • Provide access to fresh water and pasture or hay.

  • Gestation (Sows):

    • Increase feed during the last trimester (4-6 lbs daily).

    • Provide supplemental minerals and vitamins as needed.

  • Lactation (Sows):

    • High-energy feed (5-8 lbs daily) to support milk production.

    • Free-choice access to fresh water.

Mature Pigs (Non-Breeding)

  • Maintenance diet with a balanced feed (14-16% protein).

  • 4-6 lbs of feed daily per pig.

  • Access to fresh water and pasture or hay if available.

Special Notes

  • Avoid overfeeding to prevent obesity.

  • Keep feed areas clean to reduce waste and prevent contamination.

  • Provide shade and shelter to reduce stress and improve feed efficiency.

  • Monitor growth and condition regularly to adjust feeding as needed.
